DEATH OP PIONEER NUN    
The funeral of the Rev. Mother Mary John Synan, head of the St. Brigidine nuns at Randwick, who died on Saturday last, took place at Long Bay Cemetery yesterday. The deceased lady was 78 years of age, being born at Limerick, Ireland in 1837. Together with five other St. Brigidine nuns, deceased came to Australia in 1883 at the invitation of Bishop Murray. They settled at Coonamble, and the order made considerable progress.  A Service of the solemn office and requium was celebrated at the Church of the Sacred Heart at Randwick yesterday morning, the celebrant being Father Treand, with Father Byrne as deacon and Father Field as master of ceremonies.
The burial service was conducted by Father Nonyoux, the coffin being preceded to the grave by procession of children attending the various Roman Catholic schools in the district.
