Mother Rose Columba Adams, prioress of St. Dominican's Priory, North Adelaide, died at the priory on Wednesday morning.  She had been ailing for some time and her death was not altogether unexpected.  The reverend mother was the daughter of Mr. J. Adams, a county gentleman of Gloucestershire in England, and was
born on March 21,1832.  Though brought up a Protestant she embraced the Catholic faith at the age of 20, and was received into the Church of the Dominican Fathers at Woodchester.  On December 23,1855, she entered the Convent of St. Dominic's Stone, where she made her vows in the hands of the Venerable Mother Margaret Hallahan on May 26, 1857.  Her superiors were not slow to find out her rare gift for government, and she became prioress of tbe neighboring convent of Stoke only three years later, after which she was transferred to St. Mary's Priory, St. Marychurch, which also formed a part of the congregation of St. Catherine of Siena, being attached to the mother-house at Stone.  Here she remained as superioress for 17 years, and superintended the erection of a beautiful church and convent, which were just completed when, in 1883, she undertook at the desire of her superiors to make a foundation in Australia.  From the time of her arrival in this country devotion to the most Holy Sacrament and the constant promotion of Reparation was her absorbing thoughts.  Her life had always been the model of a perfect religietuse, but she ardently desired to begin the work of Periietual Adoration and to erect a chapel especially devoted to the work of Reparation.  All her thoughts and energies were devoted to these ends, and almost her last act before her illness was to revise the plans sent by the architect, and to order from England the candlesticks for tbe altar and for the consecration, as well as the tabernacle door.  She lived only to see the foundation stone laid.  She had always suffered much from bad health, and on the feast of the Immaculate Conception, when she made an effort to assist at mass and go to holy communion, her suffering state occasioned some uneasiness.  Her disease, however, did not take a serious turn until Friday, December I8, and on the following day she was able to receive the last sacraments with perfect consciousness.
Hopes and fears for her life were entertained alternately by those who watched beside her, and the suffered intensely, but on Wednesday morning it became quite certain that all hope was at an end, and she expired at about 10 a.m., assisted by the Very Rev. Dean Kennedy, and surrounded by her religious children.  At 10 o'clock this morning a solemn dirge and requiem mass will be celebrated at the convent, and immediately after wards the interment will take place, the funeral leaving the convent at 11 o'clock.

On Wednesday night, at the priory of the Dominican Nuns, North Adelaide, Sister Mary Dominic died in ther thirty ninth year.  She was the daughter of Mr. Robertson, a solictor, of Hobart, and she was int he fifth year of her profession.  On Friday morning the remains were placed in the beautiful little chapel of the Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, which is attached to the prior, and at 10 o'clock a procession of nuns with lighted tapers filed into the chapel to take part in the recitation of the solemn office of the Requiem, and to assist at the offering of Holy Mass for the repose of the soul of Sister Dominic.   His Grace the Archibisoph of Adelaide occupied the throne, and there was a large attendance of the clergy, including the Very Rev. Prior Spence (superior of the Dominican Order of Prists), Fathers Larkin, O.P. and Headley, OP, the Very Rev. Dr. byrne, V G., the Very Rev. Archpriest Nevin, and the Very Rev. Father Milz (superior of the Jsuit order).  The service was most impressive. Prior Spence was the celebrant of the mass, and the Archbishop pronounced the absolution at the bier.  His grace and the clergy left the alter rails for the sacristy, and six of the nuns conveyed the coffin to the door of the chapel whence four priests took it to the hearse.  The remains were interred in the West Terrace Cemetery.

The body of Kate Ryan, aged twenty five who for the past three years had been a probationer at St. Joseph's Convent, Goulburn, was found lying on the railway line near Menangle early this morning. The deceased left Goulburn by the midnight train last night, and was not missed until the train reached Sydney, when her belongings were found in a first-class carriage. There were no signs of a struggle in the compartment, and the only theory about her death is that she threw herself out of the train.
The railway authorities, however, think it almost impossible for her to have opened the door herself. It is not known if any one occupied the compartment with her. The deceased was seen into the train at Goulburn by two Sisters of St. Joseph, and was then in the best of health, and did not show any lack of spirits. Miss Ryan was a native of Ireland, and arrived here three years ago in company with five other ladies, all of whom joined religious orders. It is understood that she was coming to Sydney to take a situation as governess. In the absence of any motive her death is a most mysterious affair. A medical examination shows that the deceased had one of her wrists broken and a severe bruise on the left temple, which it is thought likely was the cause of concussion of tbe brain and subsequent death. The view of the police is that it is a case of suicide.
