LORETO NUN On February 4, after a long illness, occurred the death of Mother Mary Peter Brophy, of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Loreto Convent, Dawson-street, Ballarat. Mother M. Peter was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.Daniel Brophy, who were among the staunch Pioneer Catholics of Ballarat. For many years Mr. Brophy represented the district in the House of Representatives. The sole surviving member of that distinguished family is Mrs. K.O'Malley, of Elwood, Melbourne. Mother M. Mother Mary Scholastica YOURELLE
Born Kathleen YOURELLE in Ireland Died 27 December 1951 Aged 81 years Buried New Ballarat Cemetery Roman Catholic B Section 01 Grave 01 Spent 40 Years at Loreto Convent Many past pupils of Loreto convent, Dawson-street, Ballarat, heard with regret that Mother Mary Scholastica (Yourelle) had died at the convent recently. Mother Scholastica was an infant teacher for many years, and spent more than 40 years of her religious life at Dawson-street convent. She was a native of Ireland. The funeral left the convent for the New Cemetery. Rev. V. Fennelly officiated at the graveside. Very Rev. P. Daughter of Carl and Ellen ZIESING Died 18 January 2011 Aged 85 years 67 years in Religious Life Buried New Ballarat Cemetery Roman Catholic B Section 01 Grave 34 ZIESING, Sr Paula I.B.V.M. (Mary) – On January 18, 2011. Loved daughter of Ellen and Carl Ziesing (both deceased), sister of Bernadette I.B.V.M. (formerly M. Gerard). Entering the Loreto Order in 1943, Paula taught and administered throughout Australia. She brought her gifts of intelligence, humour, friendship and dedication to all her undertaking, including her last official role as Loreto Province Archivist in Ballarat. |
Her sister Bernadette, her Loreto Sister, former students and colleagues grieve the passing of a true religious woman.

ZIESING – MASS CELEBRATING the entry into Eternal Life of the late Sr. PAULA ZIESING I.B.V.M. will be in the Loreto Chapel, Mary’s Mount, 1600 Sturt Street, Ballarat, on TUESDAY, January 25, at 11.00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Ballarat New Cemetery.
Vigil Prayers will be in the Loreto chapel, on Monday, at 7.30 p.m.
