SISTER MARY ST. IRENE

The funeral of Sister Mary St. Irene, of the Sacred Heart Convent, Highgate Hill, took place on Tuesday, Sept. 13, and  was very largely attended.  The deceased sister, who arrived in the State some seven years ago, had been, a member of the Sisterhood of the Notre Dame des Missions for the past ten years, and had been in failing -health for some months past.  A Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Highgate Hill, by the Very Rev. Fr. Keogh, assisted by the
Rev. Fr. Crowley as deacon. Rev. Fr. Verling as sub-deacon, and Rev. Fr. Smith. O.M.I., as master of ceremonies.  At the termination of the Mass the funeral procession proceeded to the Romau Catholic Cemetery, Subiaco.  Upon arrival at the cemetery, tho procession was met by Bishop Gibney, who conducted the funeral service at the graveside.  Among those present were the Right Rev. Monsignor Bourke, the Verv Rev. Fr. Hunt, C.&S.R., the Very Rev. Fr. Cox, O.M.I., Revs. Fis. O'Halloran, Heggarty, O'Neill, Verling, Brennan, O'Reilly, O.M.Î., Smith (Perth), Smith. O.M.I. (Fremantle), Crowley, and White.  A large number of pupils at the Sacred Heart Convent, Highgate
Hill, were also in attendance, and marched a short distance in the funeral procession. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Bowra and O'Dea.
