                                                                                          SISTER MARY AGNES HALL.

                                                                                          At St. Joseph's Convent, Hobart, on Wednesday morning the death look place of Sister Mary Agnes Hall at the age of 99 years 11 months and 14 days.  She had been an Invalid for some months and although It was proposed to celebrate the centenary of her birth, the end was not unexpected.
                                                                                          The funeral took place at Cornelian Bay cemetery, the prayers at the graveside being recited by the Rev.. L. Sherry.  Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev.J H Cullen, Parish Priest yesterday morning.  Sisters from the Hobart convents and from New Norfolk, as well as a large gathering of tho public were present.  The chanting of the Mass was performed by the clergy. On the Sanctuary were the Revs. V. Green,. P. Adlum, L. Sherry. T. O'Donnell, and R. Dando.  After Mass Mr. ,T. R. Mccann played the "Dead March."

                                                                                          SISTER MARY AGNES' CAREER

                                                                                          The Rev. J.H. Cullen, in St. Joseph's Church last evening, referred to the life and virtues of the late Sister Agnes in the presence of a large congregation.
                                                                                          In 1833, he said. Dr. Edward S. Hall and his wife left England for Tasmania Immediately after their marriage. Dr. Hall, a young medical man, had accepted a position as Government doctor In the Colony.  On May l8, 1834, his daughter, who became Sister Mary Agnes, was born in Hobart.  She was baptised by a distinguished visiting priest, who became Archbishop of Birmingham.  Dr. Hall's duties took him to every part of the island, and consequently the family lived at Brighton, Ross, Oatlands, Westbury, and Hobart, as circumstances required.  In 1847 the pioneer Sisters of Charity landed in Hobart, and Dr. Hall and his daughter were among those who joined
                                                                                          In the welcome. It was then that Sister Agnes first thought of devoting herself to religious life.  The Hall family lived at Ross In 1852, when Thomas Francis Meagher-one of tho famous Irish exiles -was married in their home, Bishop Wilson officiating.  As companion to Mrs. Meagher, Dr. Hall's eldest daughter went to Lake Sorell district, where Meagher's "fairy cottage" was situated.  When the exile escaped to America the Hall family had returned lo Hobart, where the rest of their life was spent.
                                                                                          There were five daughters (all deceased) and one son, Mr. Leventhorpe Hall, now In his 87th year.  Owing to uncertain health, Sister Agnes had to defer her entry to the Convent until finally she joined St. Joseph's community 60 years ago.  Her life since then had been devoted to the works of religion, charity, and education, to which the

                                                                                          Sister Mary Cecilia

                                                                                          The death of Sister Mary Cecilia, of Sacred Heart Convent. Launceston, occurred yesterday. She was a daughter of the late Capt James Lucas, of Hobart, and was born at Passage Pt. 84 years ago.  She was educated at St. Mary's College, Hobart, and entered the Sacred Heart Convent in 1879,  the first Tasmanian girl who had done
                                                                                          so.  She was a teacher of music, and taught at Longford, Beaconsfield, and Karoola also.   The funeral will take place today.

                                                                                          LATE SISTER MARY MICHAEL O'BRIEN.

                                                                                          The death occurred during the week of Sister Mary Michael O'Brien at the Convent of tho Sacred Heart, New Town.  Sister Mary Michael was well known throughout Tasmania, and taught at convents at Franklin, Cygnet, Ulverstone, Westbury, and Moonah.  She was born near Bathurst, New South Wales, and took the veil in the order of St. Joseph 34 years ago.  She was a highly qualified teacher, and was held in deep affection by all children who came under her charge.
                                                                                          A solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, and the remains interred in the ground reserved for the Sisters of St. Joseph at Cornelian Bay Cemetery
