Calvary North Adelaide Hospital was founded in 1900 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary.
The Sisters vision of service is "Being for Others" and is at the core of their values of Hospitality, Healing, Stewardship and Respect.
The Sisters of the Little Company of Mary was established by the venerable Mary Potter in England in 1877.
The Sisters primary ministry was to be devoted to the care and nursing of the poor, the sick and the dying.
In 1885, six courageous Sisters travelled across the seas to bring care and compassion to those in need in Australia.
The Sisters quickly established a reputation for excellence in health care and founded their first nursing school in Sydney in 1889.
The Sisters soon established new hospitals and nursing schools across Australia and although they faced many challenges,
the Sisters approach to health care brought expansion and growth.
